I guess I had never thought about seagulls so far from the sea. But there are a lot of them here on the Bow River in Alberta.There is a definite family resemblence between this fellow and the Aussie gull I put on my Christmas card a while back.

I thought all seagulls are white. I couldn't tell it's a seagull. Very nice picture!
Not all seagulls are white... Some have winter and summer plummage and I think it is common for juveniles to have darker plummage. I haven't pulled my bird book out to identify these yet but I need to. I have noticed what appear to be two different species in the area.
