We had a chinook and it warmed up here in Calgary towards the end of last week.Chinook: Under the right conditions a warm, moist wind off the Pacific will drop it's moisture as it cools and climbs the Rockies. On the back side it warms as it compresses at a rate faster than it cooled due to the difference in adiabatic rates of moist and dry air. This type of wind is also called a foehn wind.
